4. Using umbrella.

5. Open/Close the room’s door and window.

6. Putting on/off the electric fan.

Pupil’s Activities – Rainfall and sunshine caused us to either bath with warm or cool water, drink chill water, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Listen to the pupils and appreciate their contribution. The sun, rain, wind, etc. are factors affecting weather. Support their points, introduce and discuss factors affecting the weather. List the factors on the board.

FACTORS AFFECTING WEATHER

These atmospheric conditions are affected by:

1. Sun

2. Cloud

3. Wind

4. Temperature

5. Precipitation – rain, snow, dew, fog, mist

6. Moisture – water vapour

7. Humidity – amount of moisture in particular place and time.

LESSON 2 – A TRIP TO METEOROLOGICAL STATION

Visit a meteorological station to observe and learn how to use some standard weather instruments.

MEANING AND USES OF WEATHER’S INSTRUMENTS

Weather instruments include –

1. Thermometers

  • This is used for for measuring temperature.

2. Barometers

  • This is used for measuring pressure.

3. Anemometers

  • This is used to for measuring wind speed.

4. Wind vanes

  • This is used for measuring wind direction.

5. Rain gauges

  • This is used for measuring rainfall.

LESSON 3 – MAKING SOME OF THE WEATHER INSTRUMENTS

Guide the pupils to make some of the weather instruments using the available improvise materials.

Other Method – Our Weather – Meaning and Symbols of Weather and Weather Records (Primary 4 and 6) ASEI PDSI METHOD

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. States the meaning of weather;

3. Guides pupils to discuss factors affecting weather and helps them to suggest how these factors determine weather changes.

4. Teacher’s Activities – Visit a meteorological station to observe and learn how to use some standard weather instruments.

Pupil’s Activities – Take part in the trip to meteorological Station.

5. Summary the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

NEXT LESSON
