PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor):1. list the basic locomotor movements;

2. explain how to perform each of the movements;

3. demonstrate movement patterns;

4. practice the skills of locomotor movement.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils can perform basic locomotive movements such as walking, running, jumping, etc.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart, pictures, video clips, mats, rope, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Take the pupils to the field, lead and guide them to demonstrate some of the locomotive movements such as walking, running, skipping, etc.

Accomplished each activities with cheer and energetic songs that will reveal the kind of locomotive that is performed. For example,

  • what are you doing, I am walking.
  • what you are doing, I am walking.
  • what you are doing, I am skipping.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in outclass activities.

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. The activities we just performed are known as locomotive movements. Walking, running and skipping are good examples of locomotive movements.

 

Take the pupils back to the class, discuss and summary the meaning of locomotive movements on the board.

 

MEANING OF MOVEMENT

Movement means changing locations or positions. There are two (2) types of movement, locomotive and non locomotive movements.

 

MEANING OF LOCOMOTIVE MOVEMENTS 

Locomotive movements are movements of body from one place to another. These movements involve one changing his or her position to another position.

 

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Take the pupils to the field, quickly lead the pupils to demonstrate the previous locomotive activities performed.

Lead and guide them to demonstrate other locomotive movements such as sliding, hopping, jumping and leaping.

Accomplished each activities with cheer and energetic songs that will reveal the kind of locomotive that is performed. For example, this activity is known as sliding, hoping, etc.

  • What are you doing, I am sliding.
  • What are you doing, I am hoping.
  • What are you doing, I am jumping.
  • What are you doing, I am leaping.

TYPES OF LOCOMOTIVE ACTIVITIES

There are many different locomotor movements:

1. Walking

2. Running

3. Skipping

4. Sliding

5. Hopping

6. Jumping

7. Leaping

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the basic locomotive movement skills;

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher.

3. Demonstrates the basic locomotive movement skills;

 

Pupil’s Activities – Watch the teacher’s demonstration.

4. Observes and supervises the basic movement skills;

Pupil’s Activities – Practice the activities..

5. Corrects the pupils practice errors.

Pupil’s Activities – Take correct and perform the activities correctly.

6. Summary the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher write.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
