PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following – describe the attributes of cooperation.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils can define and state types of values.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Pictures, Newspapers, Posters

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF COOPERATION 

Cooperation is the process whereby groups of people are working together for common goals (benefits), as opposed to working in competition for selfish benefit.

Cooperation simply means working together for the purpose of achieving common goals.

 

Cooperation is one of the acceptable behaviors (values) that promote peace.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF COOPERATION 

1. Communal efforts,

2. Shared responsibilities,

3. Taking responsibilities,

4. Helping each other in times of need,

5. Willingness to assist.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing elements of agreement and disagreement.

3. Lets pupils examine and interpret the concepts of the chart.

Pupil’s Activities – Read and interpret the chart.

4. Uses the chart to introduce cooperation as one of the values that promote peace.

5. Leads a discussion on the meaning of cooperation and its characteristics.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.

6. Tells the pupils to find out if some people in the community portray these attitudes.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Reports to the class their findings.

7. Summarizes each lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
