THEME: ISLAMIC RULE OF CONDUCT 

TOPIC: Commanding of Good and Refraining Evils

The Qur’an injunction commanding good deeds and forbidding evil deeds is contained in chapter 103 verses 1 – 3 of the Holy Qur’an.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

103:1. By the time.

103:2. Verily, man is in loss.

103:3. Except those who believe and do good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth, and recommend one another to patience.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

• By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to:

1. list some behaviours that are virtues for Muslims;
2. explain the behaviours and give examples;
3. explain the benefits to the individuals and the community;
4. apply them in their daily life.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. A chart containing list of virtuous acts.
2. Verses of the Qur’an and some Hadith that relate to these acts.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

GOOD BEHAVIOUR 

Behaviours are act, conduct or virtue in a person. Behaviour can be good or bad behaviour. Good or bad behaviour includes the way people relates to one another – his peers, parents, elders, government, organization, religious, etc.

Good behaviours are conduct authorized by law. Good behaviours according to Holy Qur’an are virtuous acts in Islam. Bad behaviours are opposite of good behaviours. People with bad behaviours do not value the teachings of Islam on virtuous acts.

PRESENTATION

• To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Defines what is meant by virtue;
3. Provides examples of virtuous acts or conducts;
4. Pupil’s Activities – Listen attentively.
5. Gives examples of those that lead virtuous life;
6. Pupil’s Activities – Give example of good deeds.
7. Gives examples of those that lived evil life and how they ended;
8. Pupil’s Activities – Give example of bad deeds.
9. States advantages of living virtuous life;
10. Mentions consequences of living an evil life;
11. Mention famous Muslims you know and explain why they are famous ten virtuous acts.

LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT 

Pupils to:

1. list some behaviours that are virtuous from Muslims;
2. explain the good conduct and give example;
3. mention the benefit to individuals and for their community;
4. demonstrate some of these qualities.
