THEME: RECREATION AND LEISURE 

PRECIOUS LESSON

TOPIC: MEANING AND IMPORTANCE OF RECREATION 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain the meaning of recreation.

2. identify recreational activities.

3. participate in recreational activities.

4. mention at least four important of recreation.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned stunts.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Parks

2. Play ground

3. Swimming pool

4. Hills/mountains

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

RECREATION

Recreation is an after work or free time activity. It is done for pressure and enjoyment.

 

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES 

1. Playing music

2. Watching television or video

3. Games and sports

Hobbies

4. Drawing and painting

5. Reading and writing for pressure

6. Dancing

7. Playing cards

8. Singing

 

IMPORTANCE OF RECREATION

1. It unites family.

2. It reduces stress.

3. It improves life quality.

4. It promotes healthy quality.

5. It creates room for friendship.

6. It enhances friendship skills.

7. It builds self esteem.

8. It reduces boredom.

9. It creates room for enjoyment.

10. It protects the environment.

11. It promotes cultural diversity.

12. It increases tourism.

13. It creates space to feel and enjoy nature.

14. It creates place for social interaction.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the meaning of recreation.

3. Explains the value of recreational activities.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher.

4. Lists some recreational activities.

Pupil’s Activities – Write down board summary.

5. Involves pupils in some recreational activities.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in recreational activities.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – outside activities.
