PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:
1. Form nouns from adjectives.
2. Use the words in meaningful sentences.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
NOUN FORMED FROM ADJECTIVES
Abstract nouns are usually formed from adjectives by adding ‘ness’.
Examples –
Adjectives – Nouns
1. sick – sickness
2. kind – kindness
3. sad – sadness
4. good – goodness
5. neat – neatness
6. cold – coldness
7. smart – Smartness
8. mild – mildness
9. tough – toughness
MAKING SENTENCES WITH NOUNS FORMED FROM ADJECTIVES
Adjective – He is a kind man.
Noun – His kindness is known to all.
Adjective – The lady is sick.
Noun – Her sickness started this morning.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Gives examples of nouns formed from adjectives.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen to examples of adjectives and the nouns formed from them.
3. Demonstrates how the noun is formed.
Pupil’s Activities – Pronounce the noun formed from adjectives.
4. Uses both adjectives and nouns for the pupils to see.
Pupil’s Activities – Form nouns from some adjectives given by the teacher.
5. Guides pupils in using the words in sentences of their own.
Pupil’s Activities – Use such words in sentences of their own.
