TOPIC: EXPOSITORY ESSAY ON MODE OF DRUG USE AND CONSEQUENCES 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. Describe the effects of normal and abnormal use of drug.

2. Write out a few sentences on these.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

1. Posters illustrating effects of drugs use

2. Appropriate organism

3. Container for the organism

4. Solution of salt in the water

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

Mode of Drugs used and consequences – effects of normal and excessive use of drugs

Normal use of drug produces the desired effects – cures our diseases, prevents disease, etc.

Excessive use of drugs lead to damage in the body and could cause death.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Leads discussion on the normal and excessive uses of drug.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the discussion on the normal and excessive use of drugs – mention specific drugs.

3. Leads the practical demonstration – put an earthworms in a salt, it will soon die.

Pupil’s Activities – join the practical demonstration.

4. Guides pupils to write a few sentences on the topic.

Pupil’s Activities – write a few sentences on effect of normal and excessive uses of drugs.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
