PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – state reasons why we should build our nation.

The pupils can state the characteristics of a nation.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Maps, Pictures, Video clips, Charts, Class textbooks and Newspaper/magazines.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
A nation is a large population that shares the same culture, tradition, language, history, etc.
Nigeria is a nation with its own sovereignty, government, languages, boundaries, etc.
Building a nation is a national responsibilities for all.
REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BUILD OUR NATION
The reasons why we should build our nation, Nigeria are –
1. For peace coexistence
2. For common use of resources
3. To unite us against external aggression
4. To benefit from one another.
5. For the future generations.
6. For growth and development.
7. For independent
LESSON 2 – REVISION
LESSON 3 – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays a chart showing a crisis and a peaceful coexistence.
3. Lets pupils in group or pair compare the contents of the chart and state the reasons for their condition.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify the consequences of crisis and the effects of a peaceful coexistence.
4. Uses the charts and pupil’s responses to the introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on reasons why we should our nation, Nigeria.
Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the class discussion and analyze the reasons why we should building Nigeria.
5. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – ethnicity.
