PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:
- Use the unfamiliar words correctly and in sentences.
- Identify how the story develops logically.
- Describe how sentences and paragraphs are linked.
- Do oral and written comprehension exercise on the passage.
- Use the punctuation marks effectively.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

- Supplementary readers
- Textualised folktales
- Pictures
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
- To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
- Lets pupils practise making sentences with unfamiliar words and structural items in the passage.
- Pupil’s Activities – Make sentences with words given out by the teacher.
- Skims the passage with the pupils.
- Pupil’s Activities – Skim the passage to get the story.
- Reads the passage to the class.
- Pupil’s Activities – Read the passage in turns.
- Lets pupils take turns reading the passage.
- Pupil’s Activities – Do oral and written comprehension on the passage.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
