CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAIRS OF SENTENCES

THE USE OF ‘IN’ AND ‘AT’ IN A SIMPLE SENTENCE 

Use in to show an enclosed position –

  • He is in the university (visiting).
  • They were chiefs in their town.

 

 

Use at to show where somebody is, work or studies and when something happens –

  • He is at the university (studying).
  • The thieves came at night.

 

The use use of simple tense in contrast to present continuous tense to express shapes of meaning –

  • He lives here
  • He is living here.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Helps pupils to make sentences with ‘in’ ant ‘at’;

Pupil’s Activities – Make sentences with ‘in’ and ‘at’ to bring out the meaning of each.

3. Supervises pupils activities;

Pupil’s Activities – Make sentences with the use of ‘in’ and ‘at’.

 

CONCLUSION
