TOPIC – CHILDREN’S RHYMES

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. recite some traditional rhymes.

2. identify the lyrics of a given rhyme.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Tape recorder and player, CD players, Notebooks, Pencils and cleaners.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

LESSON 1 – SONGS AND RHYMES 

FOCUS RHYME 1 – SOME HAVE FOOD BUT CANNOT EAT

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Uses rhymes to revises the previous lesson.

2. Finds out from the pupils the rhymes they are familiar with.

Pupil’s Activities – Recite the traditional rhymes they already know.

3. Plays recorded rhyme recitation.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the recorded traditional rhymes.

4. Displays written rhymes on cardboard sheets.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify rhymes in their language.

5. Encourages individual and group recitation of rhymes.

Pupil’s Activities – Practice reciting the rhymes. Recite rhymes in groups.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy the written rhymes in their notebooks.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
