PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – explain the concept of democracy, presidential and parliamentary.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart of different government

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

A government is the system whereby group of people governing an organized community, often a state.

 

MEANING OF DEMOCRACY 

Democracy is the government of the people by the people.

 

MEANING OF PARLIAMENTARY 

Parliamentary is the government where executive is fully separated from legislative.

For example, prime minister.

 

MEANING OF PRESIDENTIAL 

Presidential is the government headed by elected president.

For examples – President Buhari, Goodluck and Obasanjo, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the meaning of democracy, parliamentary and presidential systems of government.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain democracy, parliamentary and presidential government.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
