PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. state the meaning of paper Mache (mashed paper).

2. identify the materials used for paper Mache.

3. name some objects that could be produced using papier Mache.

4. produce objects using papier Mache.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Old newspapers, Starch, Mortar, Pestle, Photographs, Books, Slides and Mould.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher’s Activities – Based on the previous lesson, ask the pupils the following questions –

  • What is paper mache?
  • Differentiate between paper mache and clay mache.
  • What are the materials needed to create paper mache?
  • State the steps in making paper mache.
  • What is the last thing we did in the last class?

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively by responding to questions.

 

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. The last thing we did is soaking the pieces of paper in water. Ask the pupils, what are the thing we can create from paper mache? Based on their responses, make a list on the board.

 

OBJECTS PRODUCED FROM PAPER MACHE 

1. Lizard

2. Cup

3. Plates

4. Mask, etc.

 

ACTIVITY 2 

Teacher’s Activities – Make a list of the steps for making paper mache on the board.

  • Organize the pupils into two or more groups depending on the size of the class with all necessary materials for making paper mache including their soaked paper.
  • Guide the pupils to follow the steps and ensure that each member of the group participate actively.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the group activities.

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. Comment and ask the pupils to place their product in an airy corner.

 

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher’s Activities – Invite the HM, assistant HM and one or more teacher(s) o be part in the group presentation.

 

Call for the group and their representative for presentation.

Pupil’s Activities – Presentation of paper mache object.

Teacher’s Activities – Comment and celebrate the group for their presentation. Encourage them to do better.

 

ACTIVITY 2 

Repeat the activity two in lesson one for the pupils to produce another paper mache object.

This time, reorganize the group.

Organize a group picture.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Lists some objects that can be produced with paper mache.

Pupil’s Activities – List objects that can modeled with paper mache.

3. Asks pupils to produce objects using papier mache.

 

Pupil’s Activities – produce an art work using papier mache.

4. Organizer class presentation.

Pupil’s Activities – Display finished work.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
