PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to –

1. explain football games.

2. list the skills in football;

3. perform the skills in football.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

Most of the pupils loved playing football.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Footballs

 

2. Whistle

3. Football pitch

4. White maker board or chalkboard.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher’s Activities – Display some of football kits like ball and boot for the pupils to identify as football kits and state other kits used for football.

Pupil’s Activities – This is scorer ball and boots. Other kits are jersey, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. Comment and engage the pupils to discuss and describe football game. Summary the key points on the board.

 

MEANING OF FOOTBALL GAMES

Football is a game played by two teams of eleven (11) players each using a ball.

 

Football game is played by kicking the ball to each other of the same team and try scoring goals into a wide net by kicking the ball.

Football is the most played game in the world, and there is lot of followers in the world for the game.

 

FOOTBALL KITS

1. Jersey (shirt and shirt)

2. Pair of sock

3. Pair of boot

4. Skin pad

5. Ball

6. Whistle

8. Goalkeeper glove, etc.

 

PRE LESSON ACTIVITIES

1. Ask the pupils to get a pair of boot (or sneaker), pair of sock, skin pad (optional).

2. If you are not football expert, seek support and assistance from some football experts among colleagues or staff to train the pupils, most especially the basic skills.

 

3. Get balls, whistle, glucose and water.

 

LESSON 2 – BASIC SKILLS IN FOOTBALL 

ACTIVITIES – PASSING, SHOOTING AND BALL CONTROL 

The game of football requires a variety of skills that players will need to learn in addition to the ability to run, change direction and maintain your balance.

Today, we are going to learn and train how to pass, shooting and control ball.

Organize a training section on how to pass and control ball with the support and assistance from the available football expert(s).

 

PRESENTATION

To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

1. Discuss the basic skills in football and football kits.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion and state the basic football kits.

2. Get support and assistance from football experts to explain and demonstrates the skills in football.

Pupil’s Activities – Practice the skills of passing, shooting and controlling ball.

3. Summary the key points on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
