PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to demonstrate any of the rhythmic activities.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils can walk, run, jump, etc.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of video clips, drum sets, flute, drumming sticks, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Rhythmic activities are combinations of physical movements with sounds, beats, or music.

Rhythmic activities rely on an internal or external rhythmic (beat), used for self-expression, exercise, demonstration of physical ability, socialization, and expression of culture.

 

DEMONSTRATION OF RHYTHMIC ACTIVITIES

1. SINGING 

This is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice, and augments regular speech by the use of both tonality and rhythm.

 

2. GAME 

Rhythm game or rhythm action is a genre of music-themed action video game that challenges a player’s sense of rhythm.

 

3. FOLK DANCING 

This is the heartbeat of the people. A folk dance is developed by people that reflect the life of the people of a certain country or region.

 

LESSON 2 – TYPES OF FOLK DANCES 

National – traditional dances of a given country.

Regional – local.

Character – created by individual or group.

 

PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION OF BASIC RHYTHMIC ACTIVITIES 

Organize traditional songs and dance.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss the following activities – singing, game and folk dancing.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.

3. Demonstrates singing, game and folk dancing;

Pupil’s Activities – Watching the teacher’s demonstration.

3. Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Practice the activity.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
