PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
- identify types of family.
- explain extended family.
- list the members of extended family.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing extended family.
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Family is made up of father, mother and their children. There are two types of family – nuclear and extended family.
EXTENDED FAMILY
There are other people of family that are related by blood.
Look at the picture, identify the people in the picture.
Expected response – children with their fathers, mothers, grandfather and grandmother.
The extended family consists of the father, mother, children, grandfather and grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins and nephews.
PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
- To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
- Asks the pupils to identify people on the chart.
- Pupil’s Activities – Identify the people on the chart.
- Discusses other people in the family with by blood.
- Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the discussion by mentioning their parents brothers and sisters with their children.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
- Next Lesson – Quality of a good family.
