TOPIC – PRONUNCIATION, STRESS AND INTONATION PRACTICE 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. Pronounce words correctly.
2. Put stress in correct places, according to the meaning intended.
3. Read sentences with correct pronunciation and Intonation patterns.
4. Read sentences using correct pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.

MAKE SENTENCES ORALLY WITH EACH PAYING ATTENTION TO PRONUNCIATION, STRESS, RHYTHM AND INTONATION.

PRESENTATION

• To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Gives model pronunciation of the phrases.
3. Pupil’s Activities – Say the sentence following the teacher’s guide.
4. Give model reading of sentences, putting stress in correct places, according to meaning intended.
5. Pupil’s Activities – Pronounce the words correctly according to the meaning intended.
6. Give examples of intonation patterns.
7. Ensure that the pace and rhythm are correct.
8. Pupil’s Activities – Put stresses according to the meaning intended.
9. Think of interesting sentences which will be relevant to the experience of the pupils.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
