TOPIC – PRONUNCIATION, STRESS AND INTONATION PRACTICE
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
- Pronounce words correctly.
- Put stress in correct places, according to the meaning intended.
- Read sentences with correct pronunciation and Intonation patterns.
- Read sentences using correct pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.

MAKE SENTENCES ORALLY WITH EACH PAYING ATTENTION TO PRONUNCIATION, STRESS, RHYTHM AND INTONATION.
PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
- To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
- Gives model pronunciation of the phrases.
- Pupil’s Activities – Say the sentence following the teacher’s guide.
- Give model reading of sentences, putting stress in correct places, according to meaning intended.
- Pupil’s Activities – Pronounce the words correctly according to the meaning intended.
- Give examples of intonation patterns.
- Ensure that the pace and rhythm are correct.
- Pupil’s Activities – Put stresses according to the meaning intended.
- Think of interesting sentences which will be relevant to the experience of the pupils.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
