Lesson One – Introduction to Ratio

Lesson Two – Simplifying a ratio in its lowest form

Lesson Three – Word problems on Ratio

Revision and Test

TIME – 40 Minutes each.

LEARNING OUTCOME

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. recognise the idea of ratio.

2. solve problems on ratio.

3. apply ratio to everyday life.

4. solve quantitative reasoning problem involving ratio.

RATIONALE

Ratio is  used to compare two or more things together. That’s how much of one thing there is compared to another. Everyone wants the best values and quality, they want to maximize their available resources with unavailable resources or minimise cost for profit maximisation.

The concept of ratio will enable the pupils to understand, appreciate and apply ratio to everyday life.

LEARNING MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

1. population chart – total number of boys and girls in the classroom.

2. flashcards or related charts

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Sharing or comparing things or values are part of everyday life. Everybody wants the best, and the children are not exceptional in this regard.
