By the end of the lesson,most of the the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. write values of solfa names.

2. formulation of poems.

3. set words to solfa notation.

4. clap rhythm of the phrase set to music.

5. play music.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTION

MUSIC VALUES 

Music notation is a system of signs used to represent music sounds.

There are two – staff notation and sol-fa notation.

STAFF NOTATION

Staff notation has seven notes. They are often written on the staff.

SOLFA NOTATION 

Sol-fa notation is music notes that are usually replaced seven notes of staff notation.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains what solfa values means.

Pupil’s Activities – Bar given solfa names.

3. Assists the pupils on how to compose text.

Pupil’s Activities – Compose text to a popular tune.

4. Fixes solfa values.

Pupil’s Activities – Fix the solfa name of the text.

5. Assists the pupils to clap rhythms.

Pupil’s Activities – Clap the rhythm.

6. Plays a phrase.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teachers piano playing.
