PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. identify a mortar and pestle.
  2. state the use of mortar and pestle.
  3. colour pictures of mortar and pestle.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of charts showing mortar and pestle.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

ACTIVITIES 1 – IDENTIFY MORTAR AND PESTLE AMONG THE FOLLOWING SIMPLE MACHINES 

 

ACTIVITIES 2 – USES OF MORTAR AND PESTLE 

  1. It is used for pounding yam.
  2. It is used for pounding dry cassava.
  3. or pounding palm – nut, etc.

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Guides pupils to identify mortar and pestle.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Identify mortar and pestle.
  4. Leads them to know the uses of mortar and pestle.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Say what mortar and pestle is used for.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
