PREVIOUS LESSON – CHILDREN’S RHYMES I

TOPIC – MEANING, CHARACTERISTICS AND USES OF CHILDREN’S RHYMES

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. Explain the meaning of children’s rhyme.
  2. Mention 3 characteristics of children’s rhymes.
  3. State 3 uses ó children’s rhymes.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Tape recorder and player
  2. CD players
  3. Notebooks
  4. Pencils and cleaners.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

 

TEACHER’S/PUPIL’S ACTIVITIES  – DISCUSS THE MEANING AND CHARACTERISTICS OF RHYMES

A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF RHYMES

  1. Rhymes are short.
  2. They are simple.
  3. They are interesting.

Lead the pupils recite some of the rhymes in the previous lesson. 

 

TEACHER’S/PUPIL’S ACTIVITIES 2 – DISCUSS THE USES OF RHYMES

  1. Rhymes teach us to be good.
  2. They help us to pronounce our words properly.
  3. They tell us stories about our environment.
  4. They help us to learn fast.

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Discusses the meaning, characteristics and uses of children’s rhymes with the pupils.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
