PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

 

1. find files on the system from desktop.

2. examine and identify files to copy.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of functional computer systems.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT 

A desktop environment is a collection of software running on top of an operating system that makes up the desktop Graphical User Interface.

It usually includes everything from how the windows look and feel, to the style of the icons, files, folders, and the mouse pointers.

FINDING FILES FROM THE DESKTOP 

Teacher organizes the pupils or pairs depending on the size of the class or  available Functional computer system to find files starting from the desktop.

 

WINDOW 7

1. Click Start to open the Start menu.

2. In the search programs and files, type the name of the file.

3. Click on the file from the search results.

4. Double click the file you want to open.

 

WINDOW 10 OR HIGHER WINDOWS

1. Click the Home button at the bottom left corner.

2. Then choose File Explorer.

3. Click documents, then double click on the folder you saved the file in.

4. Your file should appear. Double click on the file to open it.

 

 

LESSON 2 – FILES SAVED DIRECTLY ON THE DESKTOP 

If you saved the file on your desktop, you do not need to go through your home or start button to access it.

You can simply minimize all your windows, right click an empty space then, press the first letter of your file (if the file name Michael, press M).

Then, click on the file from there.

 

COPY AND PASTE FILES 

To copy computer documents, pictures, or other files from one place to another, follow these instructions:

1. Highlight or press ctrl + A to select all.

Or

 

If it a single file, click on the file and right click or ctrl + A

2. Right click, scroll down to select copy or press ctrl + C.

3. Find the file to paste the copy file, then paste.

 

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available functional computer.

3. Teacher guides pupils to identify files on the desktop of different windows.

 

4. Teacher leads pupils to use the start button to search for the same file identify on the desktop.

Pupil’s Activities – Differentiate files from icons and folders on the desktop computer.

5. Teacher asks pupils to find other files available on the system but not on the desktop.

Pupil’s Activities – Find files on the desktop computer and other files available on the system but not on the desktop.

6. Teacher uses the pupil’s activities to introduce the lesson and guides them to find files, copy and paste in another files or create new file for the files.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson and to find files, copy and paste in another files or create new file for the files.

7. Teacher ensures all pupils are actively participate as group or pair on exploration of files on the system starting from the desktop.

Pupil’s Activities – Work as groups or pairs to exploration of files on the system starting from the desktop.

 

8. Teacher summarizes each lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

 

 

LESSON EVALUATION

Teacher asks pupils to, 

 

1. identify icons, folders and files on the desktop computer.

2. differentiate files from icons and folders.

3. find files on the system from desktop.

4. find files using start button to search file by name.

5examine and identify files to copy.
