1. Identification of Security Agencies – Army, Air Force and Navy

2. Duties of Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

identify the various security agencies(Army, Air Force and Navy) and their primary duties.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Charts or pictures showing Army, Air Force and Navy

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

IDENTIFICATION OF NIGERIAN MILITARY UNIFORM 

 

 

Pupil’s response – This is Nigerian Army uniform.

Teacher’s remark – CORRECT. This uniform is call military camouflage. It is used by Nigerian military – Army, Air Force and Navy.

Pupil’s Assignment – Find out the official uniform for Army, Air Force and Navy.

 

DUTIES OF NIGERIAN ARMY 

1. To follow the Constitution.

2. To maintain the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

3. To defend country from external aggression.

4. To protect the country’s borders.

5. To restore order if needed and in cases of insurrection.

6. To perform any other duties mentioned in the National Assembly’s Act or as directed by the President.

DUTIES OF NIGERIAN AIR FORCE

1. To perform all the duties and functions defined by the Constitution.

2. To gain control in the air.

3. To support to land and naval forces.

 

DUTIES OF NIGERIAN NAVY 

1. To perform all the duties and functions defined by the Constitution.

2. To maintain the country’s laws within territorial and internal waters.

3. To defend Nigerians from possible enemies in the waters.

4. To perform the military role as noted in the Act of 1964.

5. To negotiate from the position of strength when necessary.

6. To play its diplomatic and policing roles when needed.

7. To train a new generation who wishes to join the Nigerian Navy.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides the pupils to state the primary duties of Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy.

Pupil’s Activities – Mention the primary duties of Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy.

3. Organise excursion visits to Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy within their environment.

Pupil’s Activities – Visit the Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy within their environment.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
