PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

describe the damages harmful insects cause.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify some of the damaged done by harmful insects.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Specimen of maize, bean, guinea corn seeds infested by weevil, beetle or termite.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display some of crop plants and seeds damaged by harmful insects for the pupils to examine and state the effects of harmful insects on the farm.

Pupil’s Activities – Harmful insects damaged crop plants and seeds.

Teacher’s remark – Harmful insects not only damaged crop plants and seeds, also attacked the animal farms as well the humans. Give a great cheer for active participation, discuss and not the points on the board.

 

DAMAGES CAUSED BY HARMFUL INSECT 

The following are the effects of harmful farm insects –

1. Harmful insects bite and transmit diseases to humans and animals.

2. Harmful insects eat plant leaves and roots.

 

 

3. Harmful insects damage and destroy crops.

4. Harmful insects reduce the value of farm crops and animals.

5. Harmful Insects also infected the farmers as well.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Presents to pupils partly eaten or damaged vegetable leave.

Pupil’s Activities – Observe closely and describe the dangers done to crops by each of the harmful insects.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

 

4. Assignment – Find out from home, how to controlled harmful farm insects.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
