PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – state the reasons for taking care of the body.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify different parts of the body.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Illustrative chart or picture of body care.

2. Body care materials such as towels, brush, sponge, comb, body cream, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the concept of the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Displays showing different parts of the body.

 

REASONS FOR DAILY CARE OF THE BODY 

1. To look good and beautiful.

2. To maintain beautiful skin.

3. To prevent body odour.

4. To stay healthy.

5. To prevent skin diseases.

 

LESSON 2 – DEMONSTRATE HOW TO CARE FOR OUR BODY PARTS

Demonstrate with song –

This is the way we brush our teeth

Brush my teeth, brush my teeth

This is the way we brush my teeth

So early in the morning…

 

This is the way we wash my face

Wash my face, wash my face

This is the way we wash my face

So early in the morning….

 

This is the way we comb my hair

Comb my hair, comb my hair

This is the way we comb my hair

So early in the morning…

 

And so on…

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing different parts of the body.

3. Asks pupils to points to a part of the body.

4. Displays chart showing dirty hands, etc.

5. Asks pupils state and demonstrate how to care of our body parts.

Discuss reasons for daily care of the body.

Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate how to care for each part of the body, working in groups.

6. Discuss reasons for taking care of the our body

Pupil’s Activities – State reasons for daily care of the body.

7. Summary the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
