2. Types of Road within and out School

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. meaning of exploring.

2. identify types of roads around the school and roads outside the school.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can explore their immediate environment, identify and state it basic features.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

 

1. Objects in the classroom, around the school and home.

2. Charts and models.

3. Drawing materials.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING 

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

EXPLORING THE SCHOOL IMMEDIATE ENVIRONMENT 

Take the pupils for a walk within the environment. Guide them to identify and state some of the basic features within the school environment.

 

MEANING OF EXPLORING 

Exploring the environment is the walking around in a new environment to learn, search or discover new things.

 

TYPES OF ROAD

1. Private roads

2. Community roads

3. District roads

4. Federal roads

 

LESSON 2 – TYPES OF ROAD WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL 

Exploring the environment involved walking along the roads and there are different types of road –

1. Private roads

Road within or inside the school. Access to these is restricted from non members.

 

2. Community Roads

These roads are built by the communities to access to their resident or farmlands.

 

3. District Roads

These roads constructed and managed by the communities or local government authorities.

These roads are known as Truck C. The roads link one street to another within the local government.

 

3. State Roads

These roads are constructed and managed by the state government. The roads connected from local together. They are known as Truck B and bigger than the local government roads.

 

4. Federal Roads

 

These are wider roads that connect all states in Nigeria together. These roads shared borders with neighbouring countries. They are known as Truck A. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Takes pupils on a study walk around and outside the school to explore different types of toads in their environment.

Pupil’s Activities – Observe and identify different types of roads

3. Leads a discussion on the meaning of exploring and types of roads.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.

4. Summarizes each lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
