PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

explain what illness is.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify common illness.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Posters

2. Pictures showing people suffering from one illness or the other.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS 

Teacher’s Activities – Asks the pupils,

  • Have been to hospital?
  • If yes, why?

Pupil’s Expected Response – I’m sick, I’m not feeling well, I’m having headache, etc.

Teacher’s remark – When people are not feeling well, it means they are ill. Give a great cheer for quick response.

MEANING OF ILLNESS 

 

 

Illness is when people are not feeling well.

 

LESSON 2 – LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT 

Find out 10 common illness in the community.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Uses of guided questions to find out the common illnesses pupils have suffered before.

Pupil’s Activities – Respond to questions.

3. Asks pupils, what is illness.

Pupil’s Activities – explain what illness.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
