1. Identify and Read of  Numbers from 101 – 200

2. Order Numbers correctly from 101 – 200.

3. Read and Write Numbers from 101 – 200.

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. Identify and read numbers correctly from 101 – 200.

2. count correctly numbers up to 200.

3. identify orders of numbers from 101 to 200.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Match sticks

2. Bottle tops

3. Seeds

4. Rope

5. Rubber band

6. Pebbles

7. Charts of written whole numbers.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES (25 minutes) 

COUNTING OF NUMBERS UP TO 200

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 1 – Displays a chart showing 1 – 200 for the pupils to reading and identify as dictate or instructed.

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 2 – Guides the pupils to count objects in bundles.

Note – Lets the pupils use counting materials to demonstrate the counting of numbers up to 200.

 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 3 – Asks the pupils identify and read numbers from 1 – 200.

 

LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT/MARKING AND CORRECTION (15 minutes) 

Count and write numbers from 1 – 100.

 

 

LESSON TWO – IDENTIFICATION AND READING OF NUMBERS FROM 101 – 200

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 1 – Displays chart of numbers from 101 – 200 for identification and reading by the pupils (10 minutes)

 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 2 – Identification of Order of Numbers from 101 – 200, (10 minutes)

Displays chart of scattered numbers from 101 – 200 for pupils to identify and rearrange in ascending or descending order.

For example,

  • 120 and 102
  • 153 and 135
  • 135 and 183

Teacher’s activities – Guides the pupils through simple sorting or comparing each digit of the numbers.

For example, 120 and 102

Starting from the first digit from the left,

First digits are the same, cross out.

1 2 0

 1 0 2

Second digits are not the same 2 and 0, 2 is greater 0,

Therefore, ascending order – 102 and 120. Descending order – 102 and 102.

Note – if the second digits are the same, cross and proceed to the next digits. 

This technique is applicable to any group of numbers.

 

 

LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT (20 minutes) 

1. Identify and read numbers 101 – 200

2. Arrange in ascending or descending order –

  • 101, 100, 110 and 107
  • 201, 110, 100 and 207

3. Assignment – Read numbers 101 – 200.

 

LESSON THREE – READING AND WRITING NUMBERS FROM 1 – 200

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 1 – Review of the work to do at home. 5 – 10 minutes depending on the size of the class.

 

LESSON EVALUATION/CLASS WORK – 30 minutes 

Read and write numbers from 101 – 200.

 

LESSON FOUR – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT – 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to prepare piles or bundles up to 200.

Pupil’s Activities – Prepare piles or bundles of given collection up 200.

3. Guides pupils to count up to 200.

Pupil’s Activities – Count up to 200.

4. Guides pupils to identify and read out the numbers up to 200.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify and read out the numbers up to 200.

5. Weekly Assessment

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
