By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. match letters to letters.

2. match letter(s) to objects or animals.

3. write letters dictate.

The children can read and write letter A – P.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Chart of Letters

2. Magnetic Letters

3. Writing materials – books and pencils.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Place magnetic of some letters on the board and display toy letters for the children identify the equivalent.

For examples,

This is small letter A. Show me small letter A.

Pupil’s Activities – This is letter A, B, C,…

Teacher’s remark – Comments and give a great cheer for quick response.

 

LESSON 2 – MATCHING OF LETTERS WITH OBJECTS

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Guide the children to match letter with the picture that begins with that alphabet.

LESSON 3 – DICTATION OF LETTER A – F

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Dictate some letters for the children to write.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides children to match letters to letters. A to A.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Match letters to the same letters.

3. Guides children to match letter with the picture that begins with that alphabet.

Pupil’s Activities – Match letter with the picture that begins with that alphabet.

4. Dictates some letters.

Pupil’s Activities – Write letters dictate by the teacher.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
