PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. demonstrate correct movement patterns of shooting, heading, bending and stretching.

2. perform basic movement such as shooting, heading, bending and stretching.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can move different part of the body.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Basic movement means moving or changing one’s position from place to another. This movement can be by, walking, running, jumping, hopping, etc.

 

BASIC MOVEMENT OF THE BODY 

The basic movements of the body are shooting, heading, bending, stretching and jogging.

1. SHOOTING is when a player hit the ball in an attempt to score a goal. It is mostly done by using the feet or head.

2. HEADING is when a player use his/her head to control a ball or hit the ball.

3. BENDING is when the position of the body change from the upright position to curved or to form an angle from the waist. This curve or angle can be forward, backward or sideways.

4. STRETCHING means to to draw out or extend oneself, a body, limbs, wings, etc. to its full length.

5. JOGGING is the act of running at a steady and easy pace. It is part of a exercise routine.

 

 

LESSON 2 – SAFETY RULES FOR BASIC MOVEMENTS 

1. Do not shoot or jog with bear footed.

2. Do not stretch your body beyond its limit.

3. Do not wait for the ball to come and hit your head, jump to head it.

4. Wear the appropriate sport kits when taking part in any game.

5. Understand safety rules for different sport.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays chart showing that involves basic movements of the body and the pupils examine the chart, identify and describe the activities that are involved.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils discuss the uses of footwear and other safety guard.

4. Teacher uses the chart and the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads the pupils as a whole to jog, bending and stretching their body, shooting and heading a ball.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the short physical exercise.

5. Teacher displays safety kits and ask the pupils as group or whole to state the reasons for using these kits in sport.

6. Teacher uses the pupils responses in number 5 to lead a class discussion on basic safety rules for basic movements.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state the dangers  for not following the safety rules and appreciate the importance of for following the safety rules.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

1. perform the skill of shooting and heading.
