CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF DISEASE OR ILLNESS
Illness is when you are sick.
Illness is also when you feel unwell.
Note – Based on the level of the children, make the meaning as simple as you can. And let’s assume disease and illness are same.
EXAMPLES OF ILLNESS OR DISEASES
1. Fever
2. Headache
LESSON 2 – CONTINUATION
3. Cough
4. Malaria
5. Stooling
6. Chicken pox
7. Polio, etc.
Note – Always refer child(ren) for treatment when necessary to appropriate health centre.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays chart doctors and nurses with different patients.
3. Displays chart showing sick people.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify doctors and nurses with sick people.
3. Uses chart to explain and give examples of Illness.
Pupil’s Activities – Say the meaning of Illness with examples.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
