By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1 list some uses of natural salt.

2 explain the meaning of Christians as the salt of the earth.

3 explain Jesus teaching on Christians as salt of the earth.

4 identify Christians as salt of the earth.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display salt for the pupils to identify and discuss the importance of salt.

Pupil’s Activities – Salt is a seasoning.

Teacher’s remark – Most of the home has salt because some food are tasteless without salt. Salt gives food a good taste and keep it from getting spoilt. It is also medicinal. Discuss Christians as the salt of the earth and summary the point on the board.

 

CHRISTIANS AS THE SALT OF THE EARTH

Reading Matthews 5 : 13 and Luke 14 : 34 – 35

Christians are the salt of the earth. Jesus said, ‘you are the salt of the earth.

 

 

God put Christians on the earth make the world a better place for everyone.

It is wickedness that destroy the world. For this reason, Jesus call the Christians to take their place to make the earth better.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to state the uses of salt.

Pupil’s Activities – State the uses of salt.

3. Explains Jesus teaching about Christians as the salt of the earth.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

ASSIGNMENT

Find out the importance and source of Light.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
