PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

mention some harmful insects at home.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify harmful Insects at home.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Chart or sample of useful insects

2. Insect nets

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Ask pupils to state some of the insect at home that are harmful.

Pupil’s Activities – Mosquito, ant, spider, etc.

Teacher’s remarks – Correct. There are insects that are harmful at home too. Make a list of these insects on the board.

 

HARMFUL INSECTS AT HOME 

Harmful insects are insects at home that are dangerous to people. These insects can inject poison substance that can kill or make people to sick.

For examples,

1. Ants

 

 

2. Mosquito

3. Housefly

4. Cockroaches

5. Weevil

6. Tsetse fly

7. Scorpion, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Ask pupils to mention harmful insects at home.

Pupil’s Activities – Mention harmful insects at home.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

4. Assignment – Find out harmful insects in the school farm.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
