PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

perform basic skills in swimming.

Swimming pool

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Swimming pool

2. Whistle

3. Swimming trunk

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate and perform the basic rules in swimming for the pupils to watch and perform these basic skills.

 

PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION OF BASIC SKILLS FOR BEGINNERS

WEEK 9 (1 – 3)

1. Coming in and out of the water.

 

 

2. Adjusting to the water.

3. Breathing

 

WEEK 10 (4 – 6)

4. Floating

5. Face down floating

6. Surface dive

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Demonstrate and perform basic skills in swimming.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch and perform the basic skills in swimming.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
