By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

2. state the importance of sense of belongings.

3. mention some items that can be personal.

4. list some items that cannot be personal.

The pupils can identify and state things that belong to them.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Sense of belonging is the feeling of been an important member of an entity. This is different from personal belonging. Personal belongings are items that belong one person alone. Mostly, the things that cannot be share with others.

Things that can be personal are as follows:

1. Clothes

2. Shoes

3. Toothbrush

4. Underwear, etc.

 

SENSE OF BELONGINGS

Sense of belonging is when people feels connected to other peoples at home, school or community to share responsibility for the betterment of themselves. That’s, knowing where and with whom you belong are –

1. Family

2. Culture

3. School

4. Community

5. Group or class

6. Tribe

7. Religion

8. Association, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF SENSE OF BELONGINGS

The importance of sense of belongings are –

1. It improves quality of life.

2. It make us feel secure and protected.

3. We are not alone.

4. We have all necessary support and assistance.

5. Growth and development.

 

HOW TO ACHIEVE SENSE OF BELONGINGS 

There are several ways to achieve sense of belongings –

1. Active participation

2. Be open minded

3. Making an effort

4. Be mindful of other

5. Think before you act

6. Voluntary contribution

7. Be yourself always

8. Share your passions and interests

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher asks the pupils to state what they like and enjoy most in their among their family members, school and the community.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state and discuss the benefits of been member of a family, school and the community.

4. Teacher uses the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and display chart showing community development and programme such environmental sanitation, training the young ones, etc. for the them to examine and discuss.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, examine and discuss the contents of the chart.

5. Teacher uses the chart to lead a class discussion on the meaning of sense of belongings and its importance.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion, explain and analyze the importance of sense of belongings in their lives.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the lesson summary by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructs.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
