By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the characteristics of light.

2 explain the meaning of Christians as the light of the world.

The pupils can state uses of light.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display a torch light for the people to identify and state what it is used for.

Pupil’s Activities – Light help to see in the night or darkness.

Teacher’s remark – Most of the home has electrical light. Sometimes, used generator or solar. The sun and the moon give us light during the day and night. Light is very important. Therefore, Christians are the light of this world. Christians make the people to see and believe God as our light Jesus has taught. Give a great cheer for active participation and summary the lesson on the board.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF LIGHT

The characteristics and functions of the light are –

1. It makes us to see where we are going.

 

 

2. It makes uses to avoid dangers.

3. It makes plants to grow well.

 

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF CHRISTIANS AS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

In John 1 : 4, light is defined as life.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 

As Christians, we are called the light of the world because Jesus is the light and He had make us the light of the world as we followed Him.

Christians as the Light of the World means the light of Christ and the brightness of God shining in the life of all Christians.

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to state the uses of light.

Pupil’s Activities – State the uses of light.

3. Explains the meaning of Christians as the light of the world.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out from your parents, the teaching of Jesus Christ on Christians as the light of the world.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
