INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Itemize some of the right the pupils enjoyed as citizens and state the main or corresponding source of these rights and discuss with the pupils.
MEANING OF RIGHTS
Our rights are those things we should enjoy as citizens of a country.
EXAMPLES OF RIGHTS
1. The right to life and education.
2. The right to personal freedom.
3. The right to fair hearing in court.
4. The right to private family life.
5. The right to adopt a religion, etc.
MEANING OF DUTIES
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
1. Payment of tax
2. Proper use of amenities
3. Orderliness
4. Voting
5. Respect for symbols, etc.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Leads the discussion on –
- Meaning (examples) of rights.
- Meaning (examples) of duties.
Pupil’s Activities – Differentiate between rights and duties of every citizen.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
