LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – state facts about security.

 

LEANER BEHAVIOURS 

The pupils know that it is not good to take something from a stranger.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of textbooks, pictures on road accidents and fire outbreaks.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Security is the state of being free from danger or threat.

That’s, it is freedom from potential harm caused by people or objects.

 

THINGS THAT CAUSED HARM

1. Sharp objects like knife, blade, scissor, nails, needle, etc.

2. Fire

3. Expired food

4. Poison

5. Dangerous animals

6. Strangers

 

 

LESSON 2 – FACTS ABOUT SECURITY 

Security facts are the basic information or knowledge of potential harm caused by people or objects.

 

The following are security facts –

1. Do not play with fire.

2. Do not play with sharp objects.

3. Do not play on the roads.

4. Do not talk a stranger.

5. Do not take any from a stranger.

6. Do not follow a stranger, etc.

 

HARMS CAUSED BY STRANGERS 

A stranger is someone who you don’t know or one who is not familiar.

The harms that can be caused by strangers are as follows:

 

1. kidnapping

2. Rape

3. Traffic

4. Physical or mental injuries

5. Permanent injuries

6. Mental disorder

7. Murder

8. Demanding ransom

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

 

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays sample or chart showing harmful objects.

3. Teacher lets pupils identify and state the dangers caused by the objects.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the potential harm that can be caused by the displayed objects

4. Teacher listens the pupils and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understanding the concepts of the lesson.

5. Teacher explains the meaning of security facts with appropriate examples.

Pupil’s Activities – Learner identify the security facts.

6. Teacher guides pupils as groups or pairs to itemize some of the instructions to follow to avoid harm from strangers. For example, a stranger came to deliver a message from your parents, do not listen to them.

Pupil’s Activities – Learner state or describe how to avoid harm caused by strangers.

7. Teacher organizes a short play drama on security facts.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively in the short drama.

 

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board by asking appropriate questions.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions correctly and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
