1. identify the features abbreviated forms of words.
2. differentiate between abbreviations and acronyms.
3. apply standard English conventions in abbreviations in common words.
4. compose the different forms letters or texts.

INTRODUCTION
Abbreviations and acronyms are shortened forms of words or names.
ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS
MEANING OF ABBREVIATIONS
An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word used instead of the full word.
EXAMPLES OF ABBREVIATIONS

- Ms. – Miss

Acronym is a set of initial letters from first letters of each of the words that form another word.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

3. Lets the pupils familiar themselves with the words in groups or pairs.

5. Uses the charts and basic features of abbreviations and acronyms to introduce and explain the meaning abbreviations and acronyms with appropriate illustrations.

6. Asks pupils differentiate between abbreviations and acronyms.
