PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. Pronounce the register for expressing health and sickness situation.
  2. Take part in a class play on the subject.
  3. Use the structures and lexis appropriate for expressing health and sickness.
  4. Discuss in appropriate language patient’s complaints, patient – doctor, patient – nurse, patient – dentist dialogues and treatment.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Course book
  2. Other sources where the subject is treated

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Provides sample expression to introduce the structure.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – As many as possible  play roles in the class drama improved, written by the class, taken from a drama book, adapted from a passage out of a book on health.
  4. Arranges to visits a hospital. This will be useful as well as exciting.
  5. Provides a sentence that can be used for substitution drills.
  6. Pupil’s Activities – Do habit forming exercises on sentences one will use when talking about health, sickness.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

LESSON EVALUATION 

Pupils to:

  1. Pronounce appropriately register for expressing health and sickness.
  2. Use the appropriate words and expression in describing health related matters.
  3. Use the structures and lexis expressing health and sickness appropriately.
  4. Take part in a class play on the subject.
