PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the students should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to make neat freehand sketches of simple workshop hand tools.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The students can define freehand sketching and make some sketching.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of HB pencil, drawing sheet, sharpener, eraser, board and tee-square.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Freehand sketching can be defined as a drawing without using measuring instruments.

The drawing is basically drawn with the help of basic technical drawing instruments and materials such as pencil, cleaner and drawing sheet or paper.

Freehand drawing is the blueprint of the actual drawing or object. It is very quick and save save time.

 

BASIC SIMPLE WORKSHOP HAND TOOLS

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – Ask the students to state the following simple tools for the following –

1. Building tools

  • Hand towel, shovel, hand pan, etc.

 

2. Woodwork tools

  • Saw, hammer, chisel, etc.

 

3. Metalwork tools

  • Hand saw, drilling machine, wrench, etc.

 

4. General hand tools

  • Screwdriver, pliers, cutter, measuring tape, etc.

 

BUILDING SIMPLE TOOLS SKETCHING

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – With the aids of basic sketching tools, ask the students to sketch any of the building simple tools.

 

LESSON 2 – WOODWORK SIMPLE TOOLS SKETCHING

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – With the aids of basic sketching tools, ask the students to sketch any of the woodwork simple tools.

 

METALWORK SIMPLE TOOLS SKETCHING

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – With the aids of basic sketching tools, ask the students to sketch any of the metalwork simple tools.

 

LESSON 3 – GENERAL SIMPLE TOOLS SKETCHING

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – With the aids of basic sketching tools, ask the students to sketch any of the general simple tools.

 

REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)

 

ASSIGNMENT

1. Define workbench.

2. Sketch workbench.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions; then, the teacher –

2. Demonstrate correct techniques of freehand sketching.

3. Assigns freehand drawing.

5. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Ask students to correctly sketch simple tools for building, woodwork, metalwork and general tools.
