PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. identify Computer System  among all early mechanical calculating devices

2. describe Computer System counting device.

3. operate Computer System counting device.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Review on Analytical Engine

 

EARLY MECHANICAL CALCULATING DEVICE – COMPUTER SYSTEM 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Displays Computer System (if available) or a chart showing Computer System for the pupils to observe and describe.

 

 

COMPUTER SYSTEM 

A computer as an electronic machine that accepts data as input, processes the data and gives out information.

 

PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION USING COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR BASIC ARITHMETIC SUCH AS ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Guides the pupils to perform basic arithmetic using computer system.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Shows pictures of Computer System computing device to the class.

Pupil’s Activities – Bring pictures/cut outs of Computer System computing devices.

 

 

3. Demonstrates the use of Computer System.

Pupil’s Activities – Use the Computer System to solve different arithmetic problems.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
