LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. explain the meaning of system application.
2. install some of the system applications.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can identify other system applications.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Functional Computer System with the basic application.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
System applications is the software used to perform a specific task.
It also known as application software.
System application is used for,
1. creating documents, spreadsheets, databases and publications,
2. doing online research,
3. sending and receiving email,
4. designing graphics,
5. training and learning,
6. running businesses, and playing games.
SYSTEM APPLICATION
1. Microsoft Office
2. Encarta
3. Mavis Beacon
4. Game applications
INSTALLATION OF SYSTEM APPLICATION
There are two ways we install system applications,
1. Installing software from the Web
2. Installing from a CD-ROM
LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,
1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson review.
2. Demonstrates how system applications can be installed.
3. Guides pupils to install some of the common system applications.
Pupil’s Activities – Install some of the common system applications.
4. If a functional computer not available, takes the pupils to the nearest computer centre.
5. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson summary and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
