PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of singing.

2. sing about things in the environment such houses, traffic lights, roads, etc.

3. describe things in the environment with songs.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can sing the common children’s songs.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of CD player, Phones for playing songs, etc.

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

1. The Rain and Sun (Ojo and Oorun in Yoruba) 

OJO NRO SERE NINU ILE 

Ojo nro, sere ninu Ile

Ma wo’nu Ojo

Ki aso re ko ma baa tutu

Ki otutu ko ma baa mu re

OJO NRO SERE NINU ILE

OORUN NRO SERE NINU ILE 

Oorun nro, sere ninu Ile

Ma lo’nu oorun

Ki ara re ko ma baa se iba

Ki otutu ko ma baa mu re

2. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star 

Twinkle, twinkle, little star

How I wonder what you are

Up above the world so high

Like a diamond in the sky

Twinkle, twinkle little star

How I wonder what you are.

3. Baa Baa Black Sheep

Baa, baa, black sheep,

Have you any wool?

Yes sir, yes sir,

Three bags full.

One for the master,

One for the dame,

And one for the little boy

Who lives down the lane.

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF SINGING 

Singing is the production musical sounds with voice or musical instruments in form of song.

4. Two Little Black Birds 

There are two little blackbirds

Sitting on the wall,

One named Peter,

One named Paul.

Fly away Peter,

Fly away Paul.

Come back Peter,

Come back Paul.

Come back two little blackbirds sitting on the wall.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Sing children’s songs that lead pupils to sing and get excited.

Pupil’s Activities – Singing songs that describe the things in the environment.

3. Explain the meaning of singing.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation and explain.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as instructed.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
