PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to state the difference in all religions.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
- Charts showing church, mosque and shrine.
- Bible
- Quran
- Rosary
- Tasbih
- Cowries
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION – RELIGION
Religion is the belief, faith and worship in the existence of God. Religion is also the mode of worshipping God. The major religion in Nigeria are Christianity, Islam and Traditional religions.
ASPECTS IN WHICH ALL RELIGIONS ARE DIFFERENT
1. Name of God
- Christians call him God.
- Muslims call him Allah.
- Traditional religion call him by different names including Chukwu, Olodumare, Oghene, Abasi. Also they have different names for their various gods and goddesses, such as Olokun, Orisa, Amadioha.
2. Places of worship
- Christians worship in churches.
- Muslims worship in mosques.
- Traditional worshippers worship in shrines.
3. Methods of worship
some kneel down to pray. Others bow or stand upright to pray, while some prostrate or lie with their faces on the ground.
4. Materials used in worship
- Christians use the Bible.
- Muslims use stringed beads.
- Traditional worshipers use idols, animals, cowries and kola nuts.
5. Style of dressing
Some wear white garments, coloured garments, special apparel with beads and charm around their bodies, while others wear normal clothes to their various worship centres.
6. Mode of prayer
- Christians pray through Jesus Christ.
- Muslims pray through prophet Muhammad
- Traditional pray through gods and goddesses.
7. Religion leaders
- Pastors for the Christians
- Imams for the Muslims
- Priests for the Traditional religions
PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
- To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
- Discusses the differences in religion practices.
- Pupil’s Activities – Mention the differences in religion practices.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
