PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. identify dirt and dust.

2. remove dirt and dust from surfaces.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify their environment.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of things within and around us.

Things to bring for display:

1. waste paper basket, broom.

2. the dust pan or bin

3. clean duster or a piece of clean cloth

5. flower pots/tin

7. seeds, seedlings

8. cuttings.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Leads pupils to identify and pick dirt in/outside the classroom.

Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the activities.

Teacher’s Activities – Correct, what you have picked are called dirts. Ask the them to explain dirts and state the kinds of dirts they picked. Note each dirt mentioned by the pupils on the board.

 

MEANING OF DIRTS

Dirts are any unwanted objects or particles in our surroundings.

 

 

Our surroundings is the same with the environments.

 

TYPES OF DIRT 

1. Pieces of paper.

2. Leaves

3. Dust

4. Nylon

5. Broken can, plastic or bottles

6. All kinds of used items.

7. Damaged items, etc.

 

CLEANING OF DIRT 

There are different ways to clean our surroundings.

1. Picking

2. Sweeping

3. Dusting, etc.

 

Note – Ask the pupils to mention different ways of removing dirts our surroundings.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out different materials used for decorations.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Leads pupils to identify dirt in classroom or in the environment.

 

 

3. Leads pupils to picks dirt within the land outside the classroom.

Pupil’s Activities – Pick dirt within and outside classroom. Dust surfaces in the classroom.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
