1. identify harmful food.

2. explain how food can be harmful to the body.

3. State the dangers of bad feeding habits.

1. Sample of rotten food, expired canned food and drinks.

2. Chart of fresh fruits and vegetables.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Displays fresh bread and spoil bread for the pupils to smell and discuss the hygiene of the two (2) breads.

Pupil’s response – Active response and participation in the class activities and discussion.

Teacher’s remark – Listen to the pupils and give a great cheer for active participation. The first bread is good and hygiene food but the send bread is harmful food and not good for the body.

Ask the pupils, what is harmful foods? And discuss how to identify harmful foods.

MEANING OF HARMFUL FOODS 

Spoil foods are also known as harmful foods.

 

 

Harmful foods are foods that can damage or harm the body.

These foods include the foods that we eat, water we drink or drugs taken when we are not feeling well that are not hygiene.

HOW TO IDENTIFY HARMFUL FOODS 

1. Fish, meat and eggs

  • They can be identified by their smell.

2. Canned foods and drinks

  • They can be identified by checking the expiring date.

3. Drugs

  • They can be identified by checking expiring date.

4. Cooked foods

  • They can be identified by the taste, smell, ferment and look.

5. Water

  • Harmful water can be identified by smell and ferment.

Over eating is eating too much food.

 

UNDER EATING

While under eating is eating less or skipping foods.

 

MEANING OF GOOD AND BAD EATING HABITS

GOOD FEEDING HABITS

Good feeding habits are intake of variety of foods that give the body nutrients for good health.

These nutrients include –

  • Carbohydrates
  • Proteins

 

 

  • Fats and oils
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
  • Water.

 

BAD FEEDING HABITS 

Eating too much foods or eating less food is known as bad feeding habits or bad eating habits.

It is also known as eating spoilt or contaminated food.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Provides stale/rotten food items, expired drugs and drinks.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain ways food can be harmful to the body.

3. Guides pupils to identify bad feedings habits.

Pupil’s Activities – Make a list of foods that are harmful to the body.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
