Some of the pupils can mould a simple object like cup.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Old newspapers, Starch, Mortar, Pestle, Photographs, Books, Slides and Mould.

### LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Modeling Activities – Cup

Guided Instructions,

1. Tear the newspaper into pieces.

2. Soak or dip the newspaper in water.

3. Sieve the paper from the water.

4. Mash the paper together to give the desired result.

5. Add starch to the paper to hold it together.

6. Apply to the form gently on a sizeable flat plank.

Find out the meaning of moulding.

### LESSON 2 – MEANING OF MODELLING/MOULDING

Moulding is the method of creating objects using soft clay and paper mache.

The moulding of objects using paper, it is called paper mache.

### MEANING OF PAPER MACHE

Paper Mache is the method of creating objects using mashed or pounded paper mixed with starch.

### MATERIALS FOR MAKING PAPER MACHE

1. paper (mashed)

2. Pestle and mortar

3. Starch

4. Mould

5. Mixing bowl

6. Brush

7. Glue or gum

8. Colours

### STEPS/PROCESS OF MAKING PAPER MACHE

1. Decide what you want to made.

2. Tear the newspaper into pieces.

3. Soak or dip the newspaper in water.

4. Sieve the paper from the water.

5. Mash the paper together to give the desired result.

5. Add starch to the paper to hold it together.

6. Apply to the form gently on a sizeable flat plank.

7. Repeat the process.

### PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Gets all necessary materials needed for modelling.

3. Lets the pupils examine each of the material.

4. Uses the materials to introduce modelling activities to them.

5. Organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of the class.

6. Makes use a song (the Potter – amọ̀kòkò) and guided instructions to guide the pupils to mould a simple object like cup, etc.

7. Uses the moulding object to lead a discussion on the meaning of moulding and paper mache.

8. Guides pupils to recall the materials used for moulding and the steps taken.

9. Uses the pupils responses to write the materials and steps taken for moulding on the board.

10. Summary the key points on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively the summary of the lesson and write as instructed.

### CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
