By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. what is resources?

2. identify four types of resources.

3. state why resources are not distributed evenly in Nigeria.

4. list possible dangers of over – concentration of industries in an area.

5. suggest how resources can be distributed equally.

The pupils can identify some of the refined resources such petroleum, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Teacher’s Activities – Display charts showing land (industries), workers, Nigerian currency and a manager for the pupils to identify and encourage them discuss their importance.

Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the discussion.

Teacher’s Activities – Land, labour, capital and entrepreneurs are national resources or assets used for national growth and development. Based on the discussion, introduce the lesson and guide them to make a list of resources.

 

MEANING OF RESOURCES  

Resources are the productive wealth and goods of a nation.

Resources can be defined as the wealth of the Nation.

These include – land, labour, capital and entrepreneur.

 

RESOURCES DISTRIBUTION 

Resources distribution is how these resources are evenly or unevenly distributed across a country.

For example – agricultural resources, Nigeria has abundant cattle and groundnut in the North, cocoa and kolanut in the west, palm oil in the east and rubber in the south.
