LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the students should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

 

1. state the multi roles in the society – courtesy, politeness and etiquette.

2. identify their roles in the society.

3. outlines ways to be responsible in the public.

 

 

LEARNING BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and demonstrate how to be responsible in the public.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Books on moral instructions

2. Dictionary

3. Newspaper stories

4. Documentaries

5. Posters and cartoons.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Roles means one’s position in the society while responsibilities are the tasks or duties as members of the society.

 

MULTI ROLES IN THE SOCIETY

Our roles and responsibilities as members of the society are as follows:

1. Courtesy

2. Politeness

3. Etiquette

 

MEANING OF COURTESY 

Courtesy means showing of respect for others.

 

MEANING OF POLITENESS 

Politeness means well behave and good manner to other.

 

MEANING OF ETIQUETTE 

These mean treating other people with courtesy and proper behaviour in the street, bus, train, queue, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – HOW TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN THE PUBLIC

Some of the ways to be responsible in the public are as follows;

 

1. Treat people with courtesy and politeness.

2. Be sensitive to people’s feelings.

3. Listen closely.

4. Share your opinions when you are asked.

5. Avoid discussing gossip or hearsay.

6. Treat all people with respect.

7. Practice self respect.

8. Treat others how you want to be treated.

9. Value other people’s opinions.

10. Speak with kind words.

11. Apologize when you make mistakes.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions;

 

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays chart showing five (5) magic words – please, excuse me, sorry, thank you and may I.

4. Teacher guides pupils as groups or pair to identify where and how these words are used.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners identify where and how these words are used.

5. Teacher listens to the pupils and uses their relevant responses to introduction the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson – multi Roles in the society.

6. Teacher leads pupils to discuss and demonstrate how to use the magic words.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners demonstrate the importance use of the magic words at home, school and their communities.

7. Teacher leads a discussion on the meaning of courtesy, politeness and etiquette.

8. Teacher guides pupils to identify how to behave and be responsible in the public.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners appreciate good behaviour in the public and their communities.

 

9. Teacher summarizes each lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
